Green lane advice

Is there any relevant info regarding lanes that might be suitable for the new D4 in Lancashire ?

Had it for a month now and only ventured off road ever so slightly once in it, and I was wondering is there any local to me routes that might be suitable for me the Mrs and my 3 Labs to venture onto for a bit of a drive and then possible a walk ?

I know of a few routes that I used to do on my enduro bike but unfortunately not suitable now without the local farmers chasing you and the local ramblers getting annoyed !

Any info would be welcome, thanks

Ian

Drive the old coach road just south of Kendal last year. Very D4 friendly just one tricky bit in the middle ish bit of a hole but the D3 didn't even stumble. Quite long with some good views if you get the weather. Just do a google search for more info.

Hope this helps

Will be that way in a couple of weeks time... what's this hole like? Googled information brings up some scary stories but some are a few years old, is it okay now?

From what I can remember you don't drive into it more out of it, if that makes sence, depending on direction of travel. Base felt fairly solid had no trouble. Going camping in The Lakes in June so would like to have another go at this lane.

I drove it last year, from west to east. The hole was practically non existent, you could get a car through it. Thumbs Up

I drove the Old Coach Road back in October last year and recorded it on my Blackvue, you can see the video here

The video is speeded up to x4 as it is quite a long lane, the only 'hole' I could find is at 8.38 minutes, it does look like it has had a bit of work done on it. I would say don't drive the lane if it is too wet as it does seem to hold water, the video is going west from Threlkeld to Matterdale. It is a brilliant lane as you feel you are really out in the middle of nowhere and the scenery is fantastic. Thumbs Up

The lane is about 5.5 miles long from memory, however we did stop for lunch on the lane and took plenty of photos.

Thanks Andy, I did Google it and as already stated there was a few scare stories about 'the hole' Shocked

Did I read that you can do part of it if you don't have a full day, I'm sure I read the full version is 5hrs ?

Any more suggestions peeps, maybe a little nearer to maybe Skipton/Burnley, Trough of Bowland etc or surrounding areas ?

You must have read about a different lane, it takes about an hour to do it at a steady pace

Keep meaning to do this one.

Can you drive it in either direction?

If you mean the Old Coach Road, yes it's fine to drive it either way.
