Thought I would share with you all how well the Disco 3 looked after us this weekend. It was a family gathering in The Lake District and the D3 did its usual trick of swallowing huge quantities of people, baggage, toys and dogs and transported us to Ambleside in great comfort and style on Saturday. Sunday it p***ed down all day so the D3 became a tour bus for 7 people (many D3 virgins) who all thought she was the best bus they had ever toured The Lakes in. After an evening in the Golden Rule, we hatched a plot to do some offroading early Monday morning. Monday dawned damp but clear and we hit a few lanes very early to avoid the frowns from walkers. The D3 took 7 people over the following route:
Knipe Fold (near Hawkshead) to Oxen Fell (A593) to Hodge Close Quarry to Stang End, to ford at Slaters Bridge to Elterwater. Thats about 12 miles of classic Lakeland green lane. The route is mainly rock (very little mud) but some sizeable steps, a few washed out gullies and a deep ford (it had been raining pretty hard for nearly 24 hours). To say everyone was impressed is an understatement. This car danced accross everything on the route with a huge grin on its face. Despite the wettest rock and thickest bracken she never slipped a tyre, never touched down, never failed a corner and never felt anything other than the master of the terrain. To then power all of us back to Ambleside all singing along with the Dooby Brothers / long train running gave everyone such a thrill and a great start to the day.
This evening she did the same trick of bringing us all home safe and sound with lots of damp rucksacs and muddy walking boots having spent the rest of today tramping the Fairfield Horseshoe. We all love this car ..... Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Sounds Great. Can't wait till we get ours this Friday.
Out of interest, where do you put the luggage when you are seven up?

Smarticus.,
Good to hear from you again, and what a great story. Could you let us have more details on the lanes you drove ? ie exactly where, how hard etc etc.
Cheers,
-s
