Great Ocean Road - Coonawarra |
|
Thinking of taking the Sport down between xmas and New year and do the great ocean road, of course maybe get a day or two's off-roading in, nothing to serious, its on standard footwear. Any recommendations in terms of best places to stop, do not want to do more than 3 hours driving per day, any reasonable/medium grade offroad trails, the plan will be to end up over the SA border at Coonawarra to at least get some wine sampling in Any planned offroad trips going on down the south during the xmas break period, or is the mention of this cause for a divorce
Many thanks

Hi Jim,
Plenty of places to stay around the Great Ocean Rd, The rd from Torquay as this is kinda where it starts onwards is paralelled basically by The Anahook-Lorne state Forrest. If u proceed further down it eventually becomes the Otways national Park.
Both these places have excellent offroading & cater for all types from gentle drive to some serious mud.
Nearly all the petrol station have the Otways national park map which will give a list of trails from Geelong to Warnambool.
Places to stay will dot the rds down from Torquay, Lorne, Appolo Bay & then after The Otways NP you have Port Cambell, Peterborough, Warnambool (Personal Fav ) Portland Then into Sa to say Mt Gambier & another Personal Fav Robe..
Wonderful area, Hope u enjoy it as much as i did as i was growing up there.
Cheers D4 Alaska/Almond 2.7 TDV6 with E-diff & extra's..
Keep smilin' Pete.

Sniegy, thanks for the reply and recommendations, we are currently hunting around for places to stay, and where best to hang out on new years eve, expecting to be just over the border in SA, but not much seems to be happening around Coonawarra on New Years eve
I will definitely pick up a map
Thanks
