great, now I have a rear brake leak
noticed my brake pedal very slowly sinking to the floor at lights and by the end of my long journey the red brake like came on and I see I am getting low on brake fluid
no leaks around the calipers. but there is a mess on my driveway in the centre of the car over the rear case
I suspect this is a failure in a brake line which I cant see - how much of a pig is this to sort out?
I've only just got the car back together again after replacing the AC condenser unit and re-gassing myself

It's possibly where the lines separate at the crossmember just above the rear wheels. Once you locate the corroded section just cut it back to where it's good and join in a new section. If you fill the master cylinder to the brim, then seal it tight with cling film and strong elastic band it will cause a vacuum preventing spillage once you open the lines!
It may also be helpful to drop the spare wheel.

Be aware that the existing lines are steel and so make sure you have a flaring tool that will cope.
I've replaced the brake lines from above centre exhaust box rearwards on each of my D3s with cunifer and used one of these with no problems:
It does involve dropping the exhaust and removing the heat shields and it can be tricky routing the new pipe if you have rear AC. Without rear AC it's pretty easy.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Yes if you're flaring the steel pipes you will need a meaty flaring tool, otherwise when you compress/flare the end of the pipe it will slip through the tool clamp if it's not up to the job!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
