Great campsite - Soutth East Shore of Coniston

Came across this site a while ago when looking for an out of the way venue for a friends meet up.

Great location & cheap as chips if there's enough to fill it, just thought i'd post for anyone to use.

Nice to see there are still some really quite basic camp sites around, and at sensible prices.
Only trouble I can think of with the Lake District is that it is one of the wetter parts of England, but WTH how else do the lakes get filled up....

yes that's the joys of camping but if you wait for the weather you will wait for ever lots of other good camp sits if you look of the beaten track

Who said anything about waiting for the weather?

There are several advantages of a good rain storm, not the least of which are that it knocks the midges out of the air and washes the dead ones off the car - I call that "win win"

We went to have a look at the site in the wet the last time we were up, toilets work, site wasn't flooded or too wet underfoot, only suggestion i'd make is if there's a large group then a mess tent sort of set up would be usefull, site can take 20 tents & is split over 2 adjacent areas so handy if some kids amongst the group.
