Prince Harry's tell-all book will "shake the monarchy to its core", his friends have said.

It’s all about money and a chance to destroy the monarchy now he’s not part of it.

Good luck to him, I can’t think of a single country where they support so many Royals tbh. We’ve just about got one for every week of the year!

Quote:
Friends of the 37-year-old royal have suggested that the memoir will touch on Harry and his brother Prince William's relationship with their stepmother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall - who is set to become Queen Consort when Prince Charles accedes to the throne.

They said: "Although tensions have eased between two of them over the years, it was more for a show of unity than a close relationship.

"There were big problems at the start but as Harry and his brother William aged and matured, things got better and they can now co-exist as adults."

Wow, that's such a shocking revelation. Here's a thing - that happens in families up and down the country and around the world every day. It's a natural reaction and hardly shocking to hear. I'd have been more surprised if they had welcomed her with open arms.

I quite like him. At least he has some sort of character, doesn’t sexually abuse under age females ( or over age ), has not had an affair with another woman during his marriage, has not treated his wife badly and doesn’t cost the UK tax payers any money, can play Rugby but lost the top job to a well known none rugby playing toe the line female. Other than Princess Ann do any of them have anything to shout about ( Queen excluded).
What’s not to like?

Never understood why he's unpopular. I can see why the red tops don't like him - how dare he go off and marry a Yank, and a darkie Yank at that!

But for the man on the street, he's served his country - and would have done more if TPTB had let him, he did do a lot of good charity work e.g. the Invictus Games, talked to people, did the glad handing and the waving. What is it that people don't like?

I don't think her "tan" comes into it (perhaps only that lots of black people don't like her for beating the race drum at every opportunity). She does seem to have him right where she wants him: doing what's he's told; saying what she tells him to say. Whilst doing so, she has let herself appear manipulative and with her own commercial / political agenda. He obviously enjoyed being in the forces and is (rightly) proud of the Invictus Games. Apart from when it's for some publicity shot, when did you last see a photo of him looking happy? Armed forces and Invictus Games = altruistic. Netflix, magazines and books = self-aggrandising agenda.

His grandmother isn't his grandmother: she is Her Majesty the Queen; she is head of the armed forces; she is head of the C-of-E; she is head of state. That aside, she is a ninety-five year old woman - who would really want to be that cruel to their grandma / nan / gran / nanna, etc?

Luckily, we know from historical precedent that a member of the royal family marrying an American divorcee always ends well - otherwise we'd worry.

I can’t be bothered going through HWN’s post but I find almost all of it assumptions. Cruel to a his grandmother, being told what to do etc. none of us know what the Queen thinks of him now or if her view has changed and who was the fly on the wall listening to him being manipulated. It’s all conjecture but it does sell newspapers.

They and all the rest can do exactly what they like, when they like and with who they like. I don’t have a problem with that.

Just don’t bill us for the privilege, although as far as I know Harry doesn’t cost us a bean, just the rest of the tribe in some form or fashion. The Royal Family has become an ever increasing liability that we can’t afford or shouldn’t afford. Hey, Netflix can take the lot of them on if they wish. Thumbs Up

It's worth noting that the Queen and Prince Charles do both "pay tax" on personal income. They don't have to do so but do so voluntarily. Obviously, stuff that belongs to the Monarch doesn't get taxed because that doesn't belong to the person but rather the institution.

In this context, "pay tax" means they give an amount equal to what they would pay if they were obliged to pay income tax (which they're not).

So they're not quite the one-way money syphon that some, such as the pressure group Republic, would have us believe.
