Got Rear Ended - Question about bumper/pdc |
|
H there,
Got rear ended by a Ford Excursion coming out of a driveway. Both of us are fine, it was a rather minor collision.
His car had a sort of winch/hitch/towbar thing with hooks on the front of his bumper, so that went straight through the plastic of the LR3's bumper in the rear. Pushed the bumper up against the rear lower tailgate also so it sort of "hiccups" when i open it. I have to take it to the body shop next week for an estimate in repairs, but my question is, seeing as how I will most likely need a new bumper, as well as the plastic covering on the outside, are the rear PDC sensors integrated with the bumper, or do they sort of slide out separately. I was just wondering as I know if they are integrated with the bumper, then the repair bills will be even more expensive. None of the sensors are actually damaged themselves (I think...), so just wondering.
But the LR3 worked like a charm, was still ready to romp through some weather-produced mud, albeit with a few new holes to clean out afterwards
Thanks.

When I had a new rear bumper, LR ordered just that and all the parts transfered over to the new one, no problem. 2 cups of coffee and the sport section of the paper and I was off home again "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Suggest you might consider the opportunity to upgrade to a steel bumper. I had a head-on last year and my repairer found that I could get a proper bullbar and a winch for less than the cost of the LR bumper. Wait till the next Hilux tries to slide into my parked D3 Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.
