Only got one key and now it doesn’t work
Pretty much as per tittle and I know this has been covered many times but I can’t located the answer to what to do if you only have one key which now doesn’t work to lock unlock the car.
Once in the passenger door alarm goes off and you can lean across open the doors on the dash button go round and get in and start the car but the fob to lock unlock doesn’t work at all. Any ideas, the green/white wire is fine as was sorted when sunroof drain replaced about a yr ago so its very likely to be key related.
I really should have sorted a spare before now! To make it worse the wife’s car packed up a few hours earlier and had to be taken away on the back of a truck

I suspect the battery in the fob has failed, so it needs changing with a new case as well. Plenty of info on the forum how to do it or you could send it away.

Greatful of the reply, especially as this was my assumption having read up until 3am across various posts on this forum so at about 3:05am I ordered a new key casing and battery from flebay and finally got some sleep.

Anyone got a link to a decent full spare key that I’d then be able to get coded & cut?

Thanks for the help, it seems this guy only referbs keys so to fix my first problem I need to know why the one key I have isnt working. I suspect the battery is dislodged or worn out (new key casing on route from my 3am shopping) so i can try a replacment battery.
My second issue is i have no spare. I need a entire key with PCB, blank blade, & battery that i can then code and get the blade cut, so just a refurb service isnt what i need....
And beware ... 2nd hand keys are no good IIRC. Once programmed for a car, they only work with that car..

Well found my issue, took my key apart and all looked fine it wasn’t until I tested it not in the case a found that you could press the battery amd PCB together and it would work. So I decide to remove the battery and put a new one in and found found the issue. While the joints looked fine the thinner of the two battery legs was broken behind the black plastic battery cradle just before the soldered joint. Once the PCB was out the and battery removed you could clearly see the leg was broken before the soldered joint so pressing it made the connection. New battery was soldered in and I now have one working key again. You can see where it was broken by the difference in the legs between old and new....
Now anyone got a trusted supplier of full 317Hz key without spending £100’s at a LR $tealer?

You may be correct however I looked at the old key that I split open before i put it in a new case after fixing the battery issue and its 317mhz Its written on it....under where the blade folds up.
So what’s the significance of this other than it operates on a different frequency?

I would assume if for example urs used 317 mhz and u got a 433 key it wouldn’t work ??
However I know the members here will know a lot more this myself so wouldn’t wish to advise on something that I’m not 100% about
Maybe ur case is marked 317mhz but intervals are 433mhz
Think in this case one of the more experienced will know more than myself
Know that’s not much help to u but would rather say I’m not 100% sure

I’m 99% sure it’s going to have to match what the car is, just need to know how to confirm if the original key is in fact 317Mhz or was it just in a 317Mhz case and where I can get a spare from if I do need a 317!
Hopefully someone with this knowledge will be able to confirm these for me.

Hiya
Indeed the mhz frequency has to match
Done some further digging , the mhz will be on ur key rf receiver unit
I imagine the 317mhz ur seeing is on the case only and has a 433mhz circuit board inside
Easy to confirm by looking what’s on ur rf receiver unit
Hope that helps a little
Ps, I’m just looking up exactly where it’s located for u
