got diesel bug & causing me a whole world of pain
Hope some one can help me, got the dreaded fungus in my disco . Car came to a grinding holt like running out of fuel . would start and run for about five seconds . took fuel filter off and found it full of black jelly so being hopeful changed the filter which made no difference. (genuine) So next step was drop tank and take a look . well that was horrible so cleaned tank and had read about the gauze filter on pump which was so blocked i thought hey presto here is my problem. Not one to cut corners as tank was out and fitted a genuine new pump . bled system and hey presto she starts and runs but rev her over 2k and she stalls out . I will add when left overnight she runs for about five seconds getting longer each time untill she will tickover on 6 or seven attempts .Not sure where to go now but I have to solve it and I will post the final outcome to help anyone else but any pointers gratefully received.

I would say you have likely got blocked fuel injectors (and the pipes feeding into them).
The only way to be sure you have all the rubbish out is to clean the whole of the fuel piping system. It takes only microns of dirt and foreign objects to block an injector.
There are companies that specialise in cleaning injectors but that in itself is not a cheap exercise (last one my mate did was £60 per injector)
If the tank was gunked up, the filters (fuel and pump) just as bad then I would say, in my humble opinion, you have no choice but to clean the system out in its entirety (and that is a big job).
Sorry to be a gloom and doom merchant. Good luck "Track day running - Don't put your foot back on the accelerator until your absolutely sure you don't have to take it off again"

Pop on one of the boat forums YBW is good.
You will need a biocide, Marine16 is what we use on our boat, not cheap though!
Have you changed the filter again? then cut it open and see whats inside.
They're a strange but useful bunch on here but to get the best answers, fill in your profile so we know what flavour of moneypit you have .

Iirc the injecotrs have filters on the intake pipe side?
Pop a high pressure pipe off and run a cottton bud down the inside of the pipe, if it comes out black you may have problems.
But I change quite a lot of filters and it is very rare to NOT see black residue on the inside of the filter housing.
if it's getting enough fuel through to run, albeit briefly, why not chuck some injector cleaner through the system ?
if it's purely mold/bacteria then I think it should dissolve it ... same way running genuine inkjet inks (which contain biocides/fungicides) can fix a printer that's been run on cheap copies..

Thanks everyone, strange thing is it doesnt smoke and when started sounds sweet , Just done a leak off test and about same amount leaking back off injectors and not enough to fill a jam jar from all six after a few mins running . Got a low pressure diesel fault and when shown live readings when it shuts down at 2000 rpm the fuel pressure drops straight off . Got someone here with launch and he reckons the HP pump has died

ive used MARINE 16 on my boat when i had it and i gather RLNI use it....our local marina put it their storage tanks under ground to help prevent the issue.......its not cheap...the main issue is air in tanks...the bug multiplies in the air,,,fill the tank solid with fuel will help
