I've just fitted 265/70R17 BFG A/t's but as Chris said I can't fit the spare under the car even by taking out the exhaust shield. Not a problem though, I am very happy with the extra clearance and performance off road.
Just gotta wait for the RWC's to hit the market.
As promised pics of the wheels:

DO any of you Disco 3 owners live in Melbourne, Vic, Australia?
I am looking at a source of rear wheel carriers that will not require a whole new rear bumper (like the Kaymar D2 wheel carrier), but is more like the L'cruiser carrier that you can get to fit onto the original bumper.
We need a guinea pig in Melbourne - we'd do a deal, and request some cooperation around helping us market/demo...
???D3 - Buckingham Blue, SE, TDV6, 06 model; chipped; underbody armour; Mickey Thompson ATZ 275/65-18 AND MAXXIS Bighorn muddies; rear wheel carrier from 4x4intelligence.com; iPOD aux connection! GME 3200 UHF - aerial mounted on wheel carrier ; LR roof rails/cross bars; Autosafe cargo barrier, Safari Snorkel; Traxide - aux battery; ARB bull bar with Tigerz11 winch; Lightforce 240 XGT driving lights (mitchell bros tow hitch to come)

British Pacific here in the states imports a tire carrier from Israel... a company called Rasta I think. (You can ask British Pacific for more info.)
Personally, I put the spare on a roof rack when running off-road tires that don't fit in the normal location. Some tires can fit in the standard location mostly deflated, too. Air pumps are your friend.

Simon,
Yes I do live locally to you.
I'm not that interested in rear wheel carriers. They serve a useful purpose but I think that anything you end up coming up with needs to comply to vehicle regulations.
Which part of Melbourne you from BTW?

ARB Bull Bar, Warn 9.5XP Winch, IPF D/Lights, Cooper STT's, LR Raised Air Intake, Traxide aux battery system, custom drawers and half height Autosafe cargo barrier, Mitchell Bros 4x4 tow hitch
I know of 2 other D3's which I've done a few trips with but none are needing a rear wheel carrier yet.
BTW, the Service Centre at my Dealer asked me a couple of weeks back if I was interested in a rear wheel carrier. Someone he knew was looking at importing them.
I'll send you a PM and give you the contact and maybe you can have a chat to find out more.

By the way 285/60/R18's DO fit in the spair tire carrier under the truck. You have to air it down to 5 psi but it does work.

I am led to believe though the tow attachment makes contact with the spare in this case and would probably damage the tyre. Also means a compressor would need to be part of the kit
