Goodbye and Hello
So it was goodbye and thank you for all the good times to one black Discovery....
And hello and fingers crossed to another black Discovery....
Obviously no stranger to the green oval. The Td5 Disco 2 has made way for a V8 HSE Disco 3.
I have had a 3 before but that was a TDv6 and suffered the spun bearing on the crank issue which cost me a new short engine. Hence the choice to go for the V8 this time.
Early signs are good. It was cheap for New Zealand so I'm expecting some issues. It drove back fine and did a very respectable 25mpg on the way. Auto lights and wipers work perfectly. Stereo and all interior electronics work too including the rear aircon.
It has some service history and a long WOF (MOT for us Kiwis). Tyres good all terrains etc. So overall I'm happy.
I didn't really want another black one as the UV really kills the paintwork. The bonnet is starting to fade already so I might get it wrapped.
Plans are a trans mega flush asap as a precaution and because it's going to be used to tow the horse float. New bonnet gas struts, new key covers as they are both split. Decent service and oil change inc diffs.
Longer term I have my eye on a expedition roof rack, RAI and ladder plus a roof tent, some rear storage / fridge slides and power points and eventually a hidden front winch.
I had a Nanocom for the Td5 but sold it with that car. What is the best option for the 3? GAP IID or another Nanocom?
Cheers from the land of the long white cloud.
Matt

I purchased a Gap IID the same week as I picked up my D3, saved me a fortune... Only regret is I didn't get the Bluetooth version.

They are all locked to a vin (£25 to change it) except the pro version which is very expensive unless you are a pro It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
