Any good reason I can't use an Indy ?
Have used Andy White (Independent LR specialist) in Edinburgh for the last few years for the D3,and been very happy....what are the practicalities of continuing to use him for my D4 ?...It still has over 2 years of its 3 year LR Warranty left.
Are there any issues with regard to warranty etc as I have heard some "interesting" feedback on the only LR dealer in Edinburgh."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Shouldn't be any continuation of warranty issue if done it LR spec. Only down side is they any do LR warranty stuff. Your choice as to whether you think non LR stamps on the book would cause a problem on resale. It will for some, won't for others.

With regards to servicing, there shouldn't be any issues. You might find that if anything is needed under warranty that it will have to be done at a LR dealer though for the first three years. That's what I was told by my Independent.

You can have warranty work done by a VAT registered indie; the ability to do so is protected by law.
As for impacting resale value, well quite a few buyers would not spot the difference in the book. Of those that do I guess some would be put off but people like me would be drawn to a vehicle looked-after by a good indie.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
If you have 100% LR Franchise service history whilst you have an LR warrantee you may be in a position to benefit from LG goodwill in marginal cases.
I have LR service "for the book" but get my excellent Indy to do the intermediate service, oil, filter, change etc.. which I do mid-way between LR services + all other "extra" work.

My clutch went at 39 months and LR paid 80%+ of the cost. Turbo went about a year later, they paid half. Full LR service history, no extended warranty. Shame really but that is the way it is. Personally I would not go to an independent until the year 4 service. Anyway the difference in cost is immaterial relative to the total cost of running a £40-55k car over it's first three years.

Supplying LR dealer has only quoted £320 for 1st service !
.......can't see the point really for the difference ?
