Any good deals out there?

I'm hoping to purchase a D4 XS or HSE in the next couple of months, 18mths to 2 yrs old. I don't have a car to PX and it will be a outright purchase so no finance etc.

Any thoughts on what I should push for in terms of discount on the advertised price for both models? Anyone with any recent experience? Also any extras thrown in with the deal?

Thanks in advance
Nick

I'd strongly consider a well specced XS with a view to getting all the HSE goodies enabled/fitted via here - must be the cheapest way of doing it?

Thumbs Up

Thanks, that was my thoughts too.

I've seen a couple of XS's with the electric seat and armrest pack but they didn't have the bi-xenon lights. Keeping my eyes open for one with both, I thought that would be a good place to start. I like the armrests and can't believe they're not standard on all seats. I have xenons on my Audi and think they're superb so a bit reluctant to go back to halogens.

As for the other toys..... yes, save some ££s and get them retro fitted seems like the way forward.

Anyone got any recent experience of discounts on advertised prices?

Thanks
Nick

My 09 D3HSE has the Adaptive Xenons and have to say I find them excellent. Some find the cornering lights gimmicky but they came in to their own on the rural lanes.

I'd certainly not ever go back to Halogens - that said I guess getting the right interior/exterior combo but with halogens you can always retrofit these too - as others have with their D3s.

You can add Xenons a lot easier than armrests. Why not go down that route?

Hmmm, if that's not too difficult or pricey as an addition then you have a point.

Thanks

I was holding out for one with the armrests as I missed them from my D3 but could never find one with the correct colour combo.

held out for months and still couldnt find one

Went for the right colour combo in the end as that was more important to me and getting used to not having the armrests - SWMBO hated them anyway.

You can pick up Xenon's for around £500 ish if you're lucky.

Ok, so not too bad, plus some beer tokens for enabling them Wink

Plan to pop into the local dealers to start the ball rolling, might as well get them to do some searching too. That's if they can be bothered....

Although I do like and use the sunroof, the principle reason for me having an HSE is the auto dipping mirrors when reverse is selected. It's not possible to add this feature to an XS either factory ordered or retrofit.

I have to reverse down a single track lane to get to my house. So this function, combined with the reversing camera which is standard on an HSE, makes my life a lot easier.

I believe the dipping mirrors is associated with Memory seats as opposed to electric,

We certainly had them on our D3 SE

As far as deals go on used stock at LR dealers, it's down to the px deal that was done on the new vehicle as to how much potential profit there is in the used vehicle. So every used vehicle is different and it's up to you to haggle as much as you can.
I bought my used D4 HSE in Jan. this year. it was a one owner vehicle, first registered May 2010, with 16k miles, removable tow bar, factory tints, fridge, mudflaps and rubber mats. I got 17 months full LR warranty inc. for £37k.

Refreshingly, I dealt with the same salesman whom I bought my new D3 HSE from in 2006, but at the time used D4's were not plentiful and that was the best price I could get.

Good luck with your search...

Correct and you can't have that option on an XS. Whilst ultimately anything is possible, it wasn't cost effective to attempt to retrofit.

I use the dipping mirrors on my D3 SE regularly.

LR played a blinder by making the XS relatively low spec. This makes most people upgrade to an HSE - you can see that with the relative numbers for sale used.

I might buy a one year old HSE management car later this year - they seem to be c£43k - if there is no news on the D5 as my D3 is now costing me over £2k pa on servicing and bits failing.

I too went from a D3 SE to a XS. Would have likes armrests , but like GlosBoy just could not find an XS fitted with them. that said I am now usd to them not being there.
Dont miss the electric seats as hardly ever used them & the dipping mirrors were turned off !!
I had xenons in D3 but find the D4 lights with Philip xtreme bulbs in them nearly as good. Have not felt the need to upgrade like I did in the D3 whose halogens were a pile of poop. The D4's are certainly far better as they are projector jobbies.

I found you need to shop around to 'do a deal' as some dealers know they can shift decent 2nd hand cars so just take the stance 'the price we quote is the price you pay!'
 Cheers Ian
