Good Deal on Michelin Synchrones |
|
My Pirelli Scorpions are ready for changing (26k miles from new) and so I started shopping around. Ended up getting a price from Costco for Michelin Synchrones 255/55 R19 at £152.73 ea inc fitting & vat. Whats more they are having a promotion at the end of October for 1 month where you get another £50 off a set of 4. Thats £560.92 for a full set of 4 Michelin 4x4 Synchrones.
Does that sound good? Anyone know any better deals? Reading the posts on this site, most of you seem to think they are OK. I would have liked a bit more running from the Pirellis but dont know whats normal. Ware has been even so I dont think I need to check the alinement etc. Discovery 3 Metropolis Zermat Silver

Kwik Fit are doing 25% off when you buy four Michelins at the moment. From the website I couldn't see any "...expensive tyres not included on the deal..." small print. Seems like a good deal. When I replace, I'm torn between the Scorpions and the Michelins... not sure which to go for yet... 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

When I asked, that Kwik Fit deal also applied to MT/R's Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Yes they wear very well. Mine are Still on the car after 45k miles.
Almost time to put the Scorpions that I aquired from ebay on the car. Apparently they will only last half that mileage.

Just be aware that they might not fit them when you come to need them. Kwikfit would not do a fit only for me a couple of months ago - for safety reasons - even though they were my own tyres so I knew the full history of them

Rang Kwik Fit today, They quoted Michelin 4x4 Synchrone 255/55 R19 H at £209 per tyre, 25% off for 4 tyres and +£10 for fitting, balance, valve, VAT and disposal of old per tyre. Therefore total £667.00 inc vat.
I decided to confirm the quote from Costco and rang them again to make sure. Rang both Leeds and Oldham and got the same story.
Same tyre at £152.73 inc fitting, balance, valve, VAT and disposal of old. Total £610.92. Then as of 29th Oct for 1 month a further £50 off bringing the total to £560.92.
I think I will be asking Costco to order the Michelin's in ready for fitting on the 29th Oct. Discovery 3 Metropolis Zermat Silver

Let us know how the car drives once fitted with the Michelin.

Kwik Fit will usually price match, even on Costco prices. The last couple of times I asked they didn't even require proof of Costco prices - so if it's easier to get to Kwik Fit try them on a price match. Might save a joining fee for non Costco members.

Last time I went to my local Kwik-Fit for a puncture repair (slow puncture fortunately, so it was driveable) they couldn't even get the car jacked up high enough to take the wheel off. I even got them to talk to the LR garage to ensure they were doing it correctly, but still no joy. They suggested I go to a commercial garage!!
