Mine has just broken on holiday and came on here to get tips on how to repair. Looks like I'll just have to join the Club Broken Glove Box Handle instead. What is it with main dealers, they seem to assume that if you own a Discovery you must have money to burn. Happy days.

You done it yet mate,,,,,,,,,,,, the secret to ensuring a long life for the Disco is to leave it in the garage,,,,,,,dont let the misses or kids near it,, it lasts for years and the fuel economy is great !!!

[comanche] is there an order of priority on those items ?? I could never get away with it in that order Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

Well, finally got round to sorting it out or should I say, asking a mate to do it for me!!
i wasnt there when he took the trim apart but did see him put it all back together, It seemed quite straightforward, he removed the trim from around the centre console and from the nearside air vent, this revealed the screw mountings for the replacement glove box, the pieces of trim just unclipped with a bit of a wiggle and a waggle. Refit is reverse of removal... The final charge... couple of pints of stella! Job done, just gotta keep the kids away as theyve just broken the cubby box lid!! ( now thats a DIY fix) I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Hi all,
I have a disco 3 2006 TDV6 and the lower glove box handle has always been broken since I have owned it!
Really annoyed be looking at it - still works but hangs low and out at the right hand side.
I read a thread on an Australian site and the bloke removed the glove box, pulled the cover off the front and repaired the handle then glued the front back on and fitted it back to the car.
Well, if yours hangs on one side I might have another alternative way.
I should have taken photos!
All you need is hanging wire, drill, very small drill bit and a couple of plyers.
The only way to succeed is if you can see the broken part of the handle that you shouldn’t see.
If your in Manchester Worsley and come to me I could do it for you? I would need to see a picture of it though.
I have only done this today and it’s working and holding fine.
All I’m left with is a knot of wire on the inside of the glove box, very small and I have covered it with a piece of gaffer tape.
Bit risky but winner winner chicken dinner!
Jonny
