Getting a new ignition key

I need a second key for my 2007 discovery 3. Do I have to go to a Land Rover main dealer to get this done.

Use the search function there are some well recommended Chinese copies available at a fraction of LR prices.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

As above, Chinese copy, get the blade cut locally, if you haven’t a iid, grap an autel, still cheaper than a key from the stealers.

Just get a replacement key from ebay (20 quid ish - make sure it's a UK one not a US one; different frequencies) then swap the blade around (no need to cut a new one) and reprogramme with the IID tool. Whole process takes 5 mins (changing the blades around takes a little longer).

If you havent got Gap lld diagnostics, I think the Autel one programs the keys and they are cheap enough to buy.

The cost of a key + Autel will still work out cheaper than getting a local lock smith to provide and program one

So I've recently invested in the Auto AP200 and purchased a key from www.accessfobs.co.uk Very easy to program and much cheaper than the auto locksmith I used last time. Discount code WELCOME10 gets you 10% off the key.

Stupid question but can you get the physical key cut most places?

My spare goes in but won't turn. Transponder seems ok.

Timpsons wouldn’t cut a key they hadn’t sold me. Local locksmith was more than happy to do it 👍

I got a spare key cut online using a photo of the original... fitted perfectly, then got it programmed by my very friendly local LR specialist in Dundee for a small fee and some cakes Laughing
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
