get the jack back in.

After changing a wheel using the supplied scissor jack and tools, I'm B Censored d if I can get the jack back into it's polystyrene holder in the rear side access panel.
I made a mental note as it came out [as I had same trouble before - dealer refitted it that time].
Tried a few times over the last two weeks, but just cann't seem to get it back in.
Really didn't think I was that thick.

Thanks Doctor D, that's exactly the way I was doing it.
However just went out for another try.
Banging Head Nope!!, still cann't get the damn thing in!!
I can hear the 'handle connector' part hitting off the well base, but sod me, there's about 2 inches sticking out at top that won't go in!!
I know it does [somehow], cos it came out of there.
But, I just cann't figure it out - maybe there's magic involved!!!
Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head
Anyone brave enough to take theirs out and try to put it back in???
Now there's a challenge!!

Just took mine out and straight back in . . .

IIRC the base that you are trying to get it into is like an inverted staple (kind of u shape with straight corners). If you have 5cm left at the top you must be hitting the front or back top and not centering correctly.

Ronp, this is amusing, how did you get on at the dealers and what were you doing wrong? Wink

I know it'll seem amusing to all!
But it's been so damn frustrating for me - cos I know it came out of there.
Not been to dealer yet [no real urgency] but will post when I do.

Scollis, if you're feeling brave ... remove the jack ... fiddle around with it ...
leave it for a few days and try & put it back!!
then again no doubt you'll do it as it's a conscientious task.

I Did It, I Did It, I Did It !!!!

Me not the dealer.
Had a final try yesterday before I took it round to a North West dealer to have a rear brake bulb changed.
And they only charged me £15.55 for it [and left the light guards chaffing the tailgate]!!
I Got The Jack Back In
Mistake I was making was not putting the end into the slot where the chassis plate sits.
I was attempting to put it down in front of the slot [which is outside the polystyrene moulding!!
Whistle
Stupid boy!!!!
