I had really bad tyre wear on the inner aspect of all 4 of my original Wranglers at 25 thousand km. I had the routine service arranged and told the service manager about the known issue of suspension arm bushes settling and tyre wear. I was told that LR would not cover my tyres under warranty. In addition to get alignment done the vehicle has to be put into "geometric mode" by the dealership. It then goes for the alignment and is then taken out of "geometric mode" again afterwards at the dealership. This fixes the suspension in very strict limits to allow for accurate alignment. I was charged for the alignment by LR and had 5 new AT2's fitted so the experience wasn't cheap.
Does any body else know if this is absolutely necessary as this makes regular alignment checks expensive and tedious.

My previous D3 (2005 TDV6 SE) did just over 50,000km on a set of Wranglers! I had it balanced, rotated and aligned every 10,000km at HiQ. No fancy this or that, just the normal thing.
I later ran 17" Rims with Cooper ST's on and did about 20,000 km on them and I can tell you they were not going to see much more than 30K + 
In fact I have the set of 5 wheels ready to fit Cooper STT's in the garage and will be using them just for the travels, and stick to the Wranglers for now until they need replacement on the new D3. 
Bottom line is I’m not sure what this special “mode†is they are talking about, normal procedure worked fine for me.

LR paid for 40% of my AT2's when my Wranglers experienced the same troubles as yours after 30k, but I had been moaning about alignment issues since the 12k service.
There was an email that came round in the last year from LR stating that all D3's had to be aligned by them otherwise they would not cover any warranty issues relating to tyre wear. It cost me about R300 to have my alignment done in Jan - I plan on doing it at every major service, which works out once a year for me. That said Supa Quick couldn't get my balancing right after two attempts, so I went to my local HiQ, who sorted it out.

I had not had a repeat alignment done in the 10 months since delivery. I guess I should have, however I was unaware of the "bush settling issue" and could not detect any steering bias whilst driving so was none the wiser until I noticed the tyre wear.  Lesson learned! I am keen to do aligment every 10 thousand now (to protect those At2's!) I hope that a regular alignment without geometric mode will be sufficient.

Been trying to post new topics over the past 2 days with no success - so sorry to hi-jack this to see if a response works.
Had new rubber fitted yesterday :
30 min to fit and balance 5 wheels
20 min wheel allignment
90 min fitting new spare  due to larger circumference and BRS's tow hitch which interferes with portruding bits
TWT does plenty allignment on D3's and does the old trick of raising lowering and then to normal before alligning

No worries about the hijack. We live in SA after all! 
So your alignment was without geometric jiggery-pokery then?
BTW what tyres did you get fitted? Where they BFG's (as the spare doesn't fit). I was so tempted to get the BFG's. Aparently TWT only had 4 265/65/18's left in the country and they were in JHB. 
Must say though the AT2's look cool! The speed rating is reassuring and the size is identical to the Wranglers so that's peace of mind I guess.
