Gentle upgrades for an 05.
Evening all,
Owner of a Dublin based '05 Disco. Originally a dealer car so an SE but with glass roof etc. Would have been one of the first cars and it does not have any crack in the seat leather after 155k miles!
Great family car. Tax at €1809 a year is punchy!
Decision has been made to keep the car so I thought some light upgrades may be in order.
I crashed into a gate this week ripping off the side step trim.
Thinking:
New side steps;
More modern lights (are these a straight swap?);
Snorkel;
Rear ladder.
Any thoughts or other upgrade ideas? Grill?

Lights - D4 rears will be a straight swap, just need resistors to ensure they flash correctly. Fronts can be de tanged, lots of threads on how to DIY this mod. D4 front lights need wings altered or D4 wings to fit.
Beanie grill, other makes are available
Unless you plan on serious off roading I wouldn't bother with snorkel or ladders - but it's your motor so feel free to do as you wish.
Android Infotainment system would see a good idea if you want to to upgrade the interior.
I like steps or sliders, but they tend to trap the crap and rust out, so I didn't bother in the end.
£325 RFL in UK. € 1800 is robbery, unless you get perfect tarmac and no yellow lines.
Have you done: The sunroof drains, TB, MAF, PV valve etc?
Enjoy your V8

Nice motor!
Since the xenon version of these D3 headlight shape are the best around in the D3/4 series, regarding performance/output, i suggest you go for that... if you do not have them allready.. May be the addaptive one’s? That can Be an upgrade.. You will need tho edit the CCF anyway... otherwise straight swap as far as i know..
Personally i think “upgrades” towards D4 lights, grille and rear units are actually down grades on a D3..really.. i do not understand why people like that.. Taste? or trend? Anyway not my taste..
I am from a classical/vintage background , the mark 1 in original condition is always the most wanted And expensive One in the end.... Maybe to keep that in mind for a V8... And above an early one.. it could become an collectors item in time... (maybe Even soon)Best regards
Harold

I think the original D3 styling is the best and starting to become desirable.
Keep the original rear lights but for LED bulbs, the improvement is worthwhile, particularly the reversing bulbs.
I fitted replacement led bulbs in the interior as well.
A newer smooth leather steering wheel was one of my best modifications on my D3.
