Gearbox Rattle

Hi

Is it normal for the engine to sound more rattley (if there is such a word) when in gear than in nuetral?

Auto box, 05 HSE.

Thanks

Paul

I believe so Paul, it's not actually the engine but the whole car as the extra load of being in gear transfers to the engine mounts and from there to the chassis. The more worn the mounts, the more pronounced the effect.

I have the same happening on mine and was advised by the dealer that was the case...
