Two ropes received yesterday, pristine (not for long). Now I just need to find something to tow, where has the snow gone when you need it ..?
I saw above the suggested use of a shackle to double up the 10m rope for example. Is this acceptable, doubling back a rope under stress through a shackle?
No, use a sheepshank to shorten the rope and tape the half hitches

I actually got my rope this evening...
With a thanks to Mrs NJF for the UK/Lux connection...and the storage since whenever...and to Charles for collecting it and bringing it to me across the vast distance between NJF's location and me...
Don't worry Noel - your one is in the boot of my parent's car and will be with you me next week... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Johnnyboy collected his from me last week, bringing my involvement to a close I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Cripes! I'd totally forgotten about this GB, didn't think there was anyone out there still waiting for their tackle.

Hi MrH
Having broken my cheap towrope trying to recover a stranded minibus on a beach last week I would like to get a good replacement. ie as per your previous group buys.
I live about 10 miles from Lifting and Crane at Gloucester so its easy to go to them but looking at their website they only show a plaited rope described as "Nylon Recovery Rope 24mm, 3-strand nylon with reinforced eyes and centre wear sleeve, 8mtr long. 12 tonne max breaking strength".
Is it this correct rope but with hooks not loops and in 5m length that I need to ask for and is there a particular contact person there?
Thanks
Bob

Simply give then a call and ask for the same (nylon, not kinetic) rope as supplied to LRE & the Disco3.co.uk group and they'll give you the same as we have. Ask for a middle marker, but I'm pretty sure they'll fit one any way.
The yellow safety-hooks and reinforced loops are standard on the ropes we had.

MrH,
As it's now the season for getting out and getting stuck, any plan for another Group Buy? A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I've done one this year, someone else can take the rains for a change. I'm 100% sure that the suppliers will do the same deal for any of our members wishing to run another groupbuy - just contact Alison and speak with her.
