Update Garage got back to me and admitted they had done it in txt
Get that txt saved !! screenshot would be good as it will show time/date.
I'm wondering if getting the police involved is an option ? the s have clearly vandalised your car whilst it was in their care.
However … I think it looks repairable but I'm surprised they didn't cover it up or repair it before giving the car back.

Straight to the Small Claims Court ,give them a seven day wonder in which you give them the chance to avoid court action then commence a Court Action don't hold back

Go to trading standards and take their advice step by step as it's crucial that you do things in the right order..helped my father out brilliantly with a problem with a garage.

I find it amazing that a garage would do that in the first place let alone just leave it and hope you dont notice. Even a phone call to you to say they’ve cocked up on the price and give u the option of the bodge method or back out of the deal. Not that its any excuse but its the fact that land rover make these parts imposible to get to so a £100 part will cost you £1000 in labour to get changed that we shop around and try to get it done a bit cheaper. Its pretty much the same with any car nowadays. Problem is theres a lot of chancers out there because of this.
Hope you get this sorted. I would be off even if theyed done it on mine and welded it back up let alone leaving it like that. What are people like nowadays.

Do you have Legal Expense cover under your home insurance as this may well cover both the legal advice and legal costs involved to persue under the "contracts" section.

Spent all day going round a number of local land rover specialists and major body shops specialists and not willing to even quote to repair properly. Waiting for Cab to book an appointment. Still trying to find a number email for trading standards.
The main dealers guy salmon would not even quote. They put me in touch with a specialist repairer in coventry. They would willing to give a rough cost A price will exceed cost.
As it is classed as structural. It has to have a full bulkhead panel . But would charge me for a full itemised quote once fully costed up.

Update this has had to go through the insurance due to the cost to fix and the garage giving no answer. The assessor has came out and its to expensive for them to put right properly. Looks like it will be a cat S Will be officially told in a week to 10 days Some people live in the fast lane I seem to live in oncoming traffic.
I suppose the only positive is that you spotted it straight away … if it has compromised the structural integrity, better finding out this way than say 2 months down the line when in a situation that loaded stress on this damaged bit.

I'm really sorry you have had to go through this but see it through to the end, Small claims court. Take them there, they should not be able to get away with this and then do nothing. How many other vehicles are running around out there after "handy work".
Good luck

Would the insurance company pursue it? If they write it off then after a crash they would pursue the other party if they were at fault, I would give them a call, especially if you have legal insurance with them. Good luck Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I am surprised that if this is the car insurer that they are actually dealing with the claim.
Damage wasn't as a result of an accident nor presumably carried out maliciously. They purposely made a hole in the metal.

If you have fully comp some policies cover you. I discussed it at great length a few times with them and was onto the legal department for about a hour told that only should use it as a last option as i would lose my ncb. They will chase them for the price of the car getting written off. Some people live in the fast lane I seem to live in oncoming traffic.

if you're still looking for a repairers, try Roean in Telford - think they take on complex projects.
