Gap or total loss insurance |
|
Hi All,
Looking at upgrading my car to a disco 4. Would be looking to take out gap insurance from the dealer, but a friend has suggested getting a total loss quote from a specialist insurance agency (Adrian flux etc) may be better?
Wondering if anyone has any experience of this at all? Which would be better?

A lot of standard insurance policies will exchange a written off vehicle like-for-like brand new in the first 12 months of its existence.
Which kinda renders the GAP insurance pointless.
You would need to check your insurer's policy statement here of course. "Track day running - Don't put your foot back on the accelerator until your absolutely sure you don't have to take it off again"
Current Ride: D4 XS Commercial Baltic Blue SDV6 fully loaded with heated everything
Track Days: BMW E36 M3 Evolution MY 1996 (3.2 Litre 377 BHP sat in 1,250 Kgs of car, with a pro safety cage and some serious braking power)

I had GAP on a previous new car - it was a 36 month policy. Car was hit front offside corner and written off @ 2 years 11 months old.
The GAP policy paid out in full, no arguments and I ended up with the total original payment refunded (£23k) ................and that's how I got my D3
