Gap Insurance
I am due to collect my MY12 at the end of November, and am unsure about whether to go for the gap ins. I guess it is a personal thing, but any thoughts??
Great forum by the way, have learnt so much, so hopefully I'll be able to make the most of the car when it arrives!!

As opposed to the dealer offering you might want to look at this site - they are a site sponsor I believe and offer GAP very much cheaper than the dealer etc.
Also, if your insurance pays out new for old in the first 12 months the GAP offering from the dealer is wasted as there is no deferral option
Finally, do a search on google under GAP Insurance and see what comes up."UNDERSTEER" ---is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" -is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" ------------is how far you take the fence with you.

I too am expecting my new D4 at the end of November and have been doing some research on the tinternet.
Some of them allow you to defer the start of their GAP insurance if your normal motor policy includes new car replacement.
For peace of mind I would prefer to have a reputable underwriter rather than "Mickey Mouse Insurance Ltd", but they all seem to be registered with the FSA.

Make sure you read Ts & Cs as always - one of my colleagues had a major fight when his brand new Jag was written off. In his case the insurer valuation disagreed with the gap valuation and they refused to meet in the middle. It was sold by a Jag dealer and they hadn't provided proper paperwork (with complete Ts & Cs) so he managed to force the dealer to pay the difference for having 'mis-sold' the policy.D4 HSE, Active Rear Diff, surround cameras, adaptive xenons, heated steering wheel, TPMS, remote park heating, centre console cooler box

dont forget there are differnt types of gap cover. I seem to recall one was to market value, another was to invioce value, and I'm sure there were one or two other.

daughters Freelander bought from Charles Hursts in Belfast...
the 3 yr invoice value GAP insurance was free.....& so it should be considering the cost of a new D4BREXIT - done properly.
