G4 Accessories

Does anyone know if you can buy aftermarket bits to accessorize a D3 in the style of a G4 Challenge vehicle ??

Or even for that matter what is on a G4 Disco that you could put (legally) on a road going car ?? For instance lamp pods or perhaps a raised intake.

For years I had often thought of doing something similar on a TDi but going down the Camel trophy route, but never did so.

Also I wonder would it look silly & perhaps take away from an already cool looking car.

Suggestions & comments – good or bad, greatly appreciated

Ooooo that's nice Very Happy

Are those roof mounted lights legal in the UK ??

I must try to see what the story would be here.

Thing is though, it would rule out multi story car parks for sure Shocked

Lights are ok provided they have an isolator switch fitted

What’s a multi-storey car park don’t think I’ve attempted one of those is it challenging?

Sure are, especially when you’re as big as a D3 & all the height limits are 1.9m. Shocked

Best stick to the green lanes I think Very Happy

how difficult is it to fit the expedition roof rack yourself? Also once fitted, if you take it off does it leave any drill holes/marks etc?

I'm thinking about getting one but don't fancy it on all the time?

Very easy to fit takes about 10mins, if you decide to fit the front two supports it does involve drilling a couple of small holes in the trim but this could easily be covered when not in use. TFC has be running around for a while now with his fixed on with the rear and center brackets only, not a problem unless you put a lot of weight at the front

Thanks for that, might make a purchase soon then. I've got roof bars on now but need to load lots of kit for some summer camping expeditions

I mean in a tent not mincing down some green lanes in a frock
