funny beeping sound from the rear |
|
hello,
i just got my new disco4 in scotia grey model year 2016. luv the car but do have a few questions.
the first one nobody at the A/S center from JLR could answer me:
when i get out of the car i hear beeping sound at the rear of the car. it is not loud but especially when parked indoors it can clearly be heard. it last about as long as the rear lights are on. (they stay on a few secs after one gets out of the car, right?)
once the rear lights go off it last about 1-2 secs longer and then stops. it could be related to the parking sensors in the rear but i just want to know if that is normal or not??
anybody has the same sound?
cheers!

Is it a beeping at a single pitch or does it sound more like a servo noise varying in pitch? Also, is it only when lights have been used? If varying and not light dependent could be the noise you get from the turbo actuator performing a sweep as the car shuts down.

I have a similar sound from mine .. an MY16 .... I put it down to the ad blue thingy ..... the courtesy cars I had without ad blue did not make this sound .... a sort of 'warbling' noise is how I would describe it. 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

The trucks with adblue make all sort of strange noises when switched off.

Mine does it, none of my other ones have. It a sounds like a very quiet house alarm telling you to exit just after arming. I put it down to the DEF system. MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Mine does this but normally only when I park at home on a bit of an incline. I think it is the air suspension checking its ride height as I often lower the car before getting out too.
Once it has actually adjusted the ride level once all the doors had been closed which adds some weight to my hypothesis.

It probably is the valving levelling itself ..... My old P 38 still does it as it lets air out of the system to level itself as best it can.... Could be considered as a slight beeping but in reality it's air being released??

SWMBOs MY16 does it. It's the "radar" units in the corners which are for the blindspot detection and carpark cross traffic sensing systems.
Believe the first time I came across it was on DGs latest beastie at the 2015 PNC meeting. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
