Well
picking my car up tomorrow but my dealer wants to keep it as the fuel gauge problem I was having has resulted in a new fuel tank needing to be fitted and they cant get one until 11-02-05 they said they would keep my car until then, i told them to sod off and if i had managed to do nearly 4000 miles with out running out of fuel then i am sure a would manage another week doing so, dont get me wrong i would rather put miles on their loan d3 but and i dont mean to sound a snob or anything i would rather drive my HSE than the D3 S they have given me.
ohh and they have fixed the sinking suspension, it was a regulator valve ? appartently the car now stay exactley as you left it... we will see
I will report more tomorow when I have collected it as they have spoke to LR about all my reported software issues also.

Neil - well done, what nonsense to try to keep the car off the road!, I've seen one or two other postings about dealers keeping cars for surprisingly long times - I wonder if that is to allow LR themselves to inspect the car, perhaps on the basis that it might be an early "lemon"?
What was the list of faults you've given them? - I have a list of a dozen I've asked my dealer to fix (booked for 3 days in a week's time) Could be useful for members to know the sort of issues, and how the dealer deals with them.

This seems to be a worrying trend on here, and I must ask when you both received your D3's. I only got mine circa 12th Jan, after a very long wait. Since I know people within LR, used used to work at Gaydon for LR, I was kept abreast of when and where my vehicle was manufactured. My D3 was actually built on my birthday the 18th of November, but then went into limbo for nearly 2 months. During this time it went to Castle Bromwich/Gaydon, I'm guessing for various PDI's/storage, before eventaully being relesed to the dealer. All I can say that during this limbo period, and I know that LR had a strict quaratine period, which I must have fell foul to. My D3 must have gone through the works, since I dont a single issue at all. I've read various posts regarding suspension failures, various issues with earthing, Infotainment centre, and software settings being incorrect, and thank god nothing. My dealer even phoned me late at night to confirm when my car actually got to them, and they only had it 1 full day for the PDI, before I collected it.
My D3 is superb, and I hope that there are more D3's like mine than some of the horry stories which we see.
Let's hear from others in a similar situation to myself, to preserve some form of balance to the forum. Yes there will be D3's that have slipped the net, but hopefully not in large numbers.

Big Al, mine would have been delivered to the dealer mid-November - however it was going to be early Dec before they had PDI'd it, so I did a deal to pay them but only register it 01 Jan (LR were apparently pressuring for sales through in December) as I reckon a 2005 reg'd car is worth more than a Dec 2004! I suspect therefore mine was built in October? - must be some way of checking this - VIN sequence even?

didnt mean to offened i just like my car and enjoy it, I got the car back today and they havent done any work on it except fit a new air suspension regulator I will know if this has cured my problem. the paint fault that the car was going in for has been over looked and some one has just put some polish on the opposite door and not even touched the tow areas that needs repainting. they had had the car a week and done nothing. i am thinking of going back on monday and trying to reject this car as they have had it 3 times for long periods and fixed nothing also the list just keeps getting longer.
does any one know where i stand re making them take the car back. I have had it since the 1st dec done 3700 miles and have been trying to get them do the work on it since the week after i got it but with christmas and loan car availablity it has stretched out abit 2005 Java Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 HS (GONE)

Rejecting a car is a specialist area of consumer law (at least here in Scotland, and I have no reason to believe England will be any different) - you would be best to speak to a lawyer who specialises in such matters and go over the whole circumstances without omission. In general the dealer has to be given a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter which also has to be material and if they fail to resolve it after reasonable opportunities (2 or 3 shots would be normal) then you can reject the vehicle - however this is normally in the early weeks after delivery - most cases seem to relate to rejection of vehicles within the first month. Even if you had advised the dealer of the problems, I suspect that the very fact that you have been able to continue using it for 2 months & a good mileage will mitigate against an argument of rejecting it. Bear in mind that if you reject it you have to either return it or advise them it is awaitig collection - if you return it they ay try charging you storage.
I do however sympathise with you, as i have various "niggles" with my HSE as well. Another alternative might be to look at (under Sale of Goods Act) retaining good but suing for damages!! Herein Scotland our Small Claims limit is only £750 but i believe in England it is £2500?? - certainly here the advantage of a SC is that you have only very limited liability for costs of you lose & it is cheap to raise, so this might be a viable course of action.
