Fuel pump - recall

I have just received a letter from Land Rover asking me not to drive the car until they have checked the fuel pump. Apparently there is some fault on 2007/8 models and they are keen to check/replace free of charge before something bad happens. Shocked

I was wondering if anybody else had heard of this .

Interesting, thanks. The letter seems to suggest that they are worried about a high pressure hose leaking and spilling fuel all over the engine bay. Apprently it affects RRSs too, potentially both having the TDV6 engine.

There is recall action relating TDV6 Euro IV engine regarding the high pressure pump in GTR (High Pressure Fuel Pump - Front Bearing Failure, Reference: P008_EX (1) ). This is just in certain market (Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Costa Rica, etc), no UK or German cars are recalled.

I was told that the problem relates to all cars, but it is effected by fuel quality, therefore LR recalled only cars in country where the fuel quality more effecting the fault.

That's the one! So much for using just Shell V-Power diesel then. Although, as far as I can tell my car is not experiencing any odd symptoms. Still, better safe than sorry.

I guess that means that LR are unaware that some of us actually travel abroad in our D3s then? Rolling Eyes

Is this not what happened to the chap in the Western Isles - does that mean they have bad fuel there or is it just that they don't want the expense/embarrassment of a recall here. His car was written off with a fuel leak fire.

Well, if it affects all cars LR should check all cars - relying on the fact that it is "only" a bad fuel problem seems a little risky.

Booked in for two days Shocked on 14th July. A chum of mine who can smell diesel in his cabin has twice been told by LR that there is no prioblem. Needless to say, he dud not receive one of the letters, and the local LR folk did not mention this particular problem!
