Fuel issue??

Just had a strange experience on the way home, three random times felt like I was running out of fuel bit like a splutter, cleared every time and no fault codes on the GAP tool, I’ve half a tank of diesel had new mahle fuel filter in December with no issue, had similar but worse In the past when I removed a fuse that effected the the fuel gauge and it kept shutting down till I replaced the fuse, it’s been running fine up till now tho, any ideas??

Done it again on the way in this morning, mostly around 1000-1300 rpm when going round roundabouts / pulling away / in slow moving traffic
Again no related errors on the GAP tool 🤷🏻‍♂️

Start with an easy one first!

Clean the MAF sensors Thumbs Up

Track Days: BMW E36 M3 Evolution MY 1996 (3.2 Litre 377 BHP sat in 1,250 Kgs of car, with a pro safety cage and some serious braking power) Smile

Pretty sure you will find it on Amazon and the likes.

Do not use any form of electrical or brake cleaner - you run the risk of damaging the sensors.

Plenty of videos showing how to do it (I'm assuming you have a D4 but if not search for D3).

Thumbs Up Yep it’s a D4, I’m doing the autobox filter replacement this week, I’ll grab some cleaner when I get the gear for that, I’ve two MAFs in the shed from my 07 L322 wonder if they’re the same? May have a replacement if one is faulty!

Gearbox filter done, cleaned the MAFs and MAP sensors, one MAF was pretty much clean but guess that’s for the second turbo, still have the issue I’m wondering if it’s a faulty brake pedal switch, I can pretty much replicate it sat on the drive with low revs then applying the brake. Tried to read live values with the IId but they’re all coming up NA

Update just incase anyone else has this issue, it was 100% the brake switch again I could replicate it with side pressure on the brake pedal from my right foot, changed the switch and it’s no longer possible, switches are cheap only paid a fiver each for Britpart ones I got a spare for future use
