Well honeymoon period over then, as much as I like the idea that my fuel gauge goes from a 1/4 of a tank slowly up to maximum without visiting a petrol station, i am beginning to suspect that something may not be quite right. Either that or someone is secretly filling my car up each night to confuse me.
Its going back to Land Rover Tuesday but out of interest has anyone else had this and is there any reset procedure I could try or anything I could tap with a hammer.
What really worries me though is that when it started doing this my first thought was - oh good I now have something to fiddle with and research - is there something very wrong with me? Or am I just perfectly suited to owning a discovery? D4 HSE

It does appear that your assimilation is complete.
Sounds like a wiring issue between the sensors and the instrument pack. When the resistance increases this is interpreted as a rise in fuel tank contents. Indeed, this is the principal behind the fuel tank sensors.
On a D3 the usual suspect is the connector behind the rear right wheel arch liner. I think the D4 is pretty much the same. The resistance can be measured and compared with the level displayed. A look-up conversion table is available.

Thanks, ok in that case Ill wait and let the dealer do it on Tuesday, its under warranty - if it was a case of tapping a stuck sensor with a hammer then I was ready to go,
Thanks for the help.D4 HSE
