Fuel Burning Heater (by this i mean park heater) |
|
Hi
just got my D4 yesterday, and very pleased with it to. so here is the question
for those that have the fuel burning heater, how long before warm air gets blown into the cockpit?
have had these options before on FFRR and Sports, and the warm air starts to come out wuick quickly, but on my D4 not so. got cold air last night, and even colder air this am. both times unit had been running for about 20mins. Cheers
Keith

are you talking about the "Park Heater" or the normal use of FBH.
if you press the little remote to start the park heater, mine pushes out wamr air in a couple of mins
if its not cold enough the FBH wont come on Duncan

are not Park Heater and FBH the same thing?. I've specced one in my order but don't know what exactly goes on when it works, or how long it takes to heat the cabin?
On a misty morn, do you get condensation/smoke ?
and are there variables for operation you can set in the touchscreen ?

they all come with the FBH but the remote or timed use is an option.
if youve chosen the factory option then it will allow you to remotely start the FBH and warm the interior or use the timer from the screen.
should get warm in a couple of mins.
you can also attach a GSM receiver to a spare remote so you can start it up from afar Duncan

I don't have any smoke from mine but you can hear it working, I press my remote about 30 minutes before I go out when it's cold and by that time the car is demisted and the heater is blowing warm and I hope you have specced the heated steering wheel also, keeps your hands nice and warm when it's cold Cheers Ian

yes to the HSW and the FBH on my order.
The potential for remote dial-up to activate the FBH would be absolutely ideal for me
being an angler as one never knows when the end of a session may be. If I could get a signal, then dialling up the FSB half-an-hour before you retrace steps to the car on winter nights would be more than nice.
Aside from pre-heating the cabin/venting in summer, is there any other intended use the FBH is designed for?

The FBH's primary purpose is to keep the engine coolant at the correct temerature and sufficient to heat the cabin in cold temperatures Duncan

D Dunc - dumb question maybe but how does FBH work without remote or timer ? Does it just kick in when you get in and start the car ?
Is it standard on all variants ? Mine is a MY2012 D4 XS without timer or remote (but hoping to get that done sometime soon - don't think it can be done yet for MY12).
Cheers

the car works out if and when the FBH kicks in usually, below 6 celsius Duncan

when you press the remote or set the timer, warm air will come out the vents if the outside temp is below 15c. if temp is 15c or over then it will "vent". ie blow cold air. warm air will blow into the cabin in a couple of mins
whether you have the park heater option or not, the car still has an FBH which is controlled by the car electronics. it will fire up at temps below 6 degrees. depending on your driving etc it may take a while for the warm air come come out of the vents even if you have the park heater option fitted.
hope that makes it clearer.
alternativly read the manual - all the info is in there Duncan

FBH won't work if you have a low battery , if the low fuel light is on or if you are parked on a slope / hill G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
