preheater

As far as I'm aware they're all fitted with them!!! if you look under the bonnet behind the nearside head light you'll see what could be described as a silver box about 100mm square, thats the cabin preheater, early models use to exhaust under the bonnet and some days you'd see what looked like steam issuing out from the side. later models had the exhaust dropped to below the wing. when you start the engine the heater starts for a fixed period so if you wanna check, start the engine and then stop it the heater will keep on with its ever so gentle hum!

All D3's with a TDV6 are fitted with the fuel burning heater. Its automagic and you have no control over it.

The fixed period being until the engine has reached the right temperature.

The 'overun' on the heater if you do stop the engine before its warm enough is simply to burn off any fuel left in the system.

Mine is a very early D3 (Nov 04) and my fbh exhaust is in the front of the left wheel arch, like the latest models.

It's been frosty a few mornings here recently and I've noticed the steam eminating from beneath front of the vehicle. As I only took delivery a couple of months ago, this is my first experience of evidence of additional heater on my 2008 MY Disco.

I wondered what the exhaust "steam" was coming from under the front! Now I know.... Rolling Eyes

Can anyone confirm if the FBH works completely in automatic, regardless of the airconditioning ON or ECON position?
