Front parking sensors won't work... until I reverse!
Hey all
My front parking sensors have stopped beeping on my 6-month old MY2016, until I put the car into reverse, at which point they kick into life. But only sporadically – they'll *sometimes* pick up the large wall in front of me, depending on what gear I'm in.
Just wondering if this is a common problem with a simple fix, or whether I need to book it in?
Mods: LED interior lights. Front guard.
Soon: black grille, tinted windows.

There is a button on the dash to turn on the front sensors when you decide you need them - but I take it you already know this as you've said they have now stopped working?2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

They should activate automatically when you have used reverse, but can be switched on when speed is low enough using the on dash button, weird set up.

Double-checked, and yes – the front parking sensor is disabled on car start, I have to switch it on manually to make use of it.
The manual doesn't say that you have to enable the front sensors manually when you want to use them:

...and I'm pretty sure the sensors had *always* been enabled since buying the car, because I didn't know I had to manually enable it, and it just always worked.

Unless the newer models are different, the front sensors on my 2010 don't come on automatically, unless I have been into reverse or switched them on myself.
I guess they don't come on automatically as they would get annoying in a line of traffic if you got too close to the car in front for example.Andy

I would rather have to switch the off if they were bugging my in traffic.

But if that was the case, when would the system decided to switch them back on, each time the traffic moved, or after a set period of time?
When I lived in London, I regularly drove to Hampshire and the first 7 or 8 miles would take anything from 45 minutes plus, if I had to turn the front parking sensors off every time I stopped I would have gone mad, or the button would have worn out.
So whilst I know how the system currently works makes it possible for you to hit something without warning, I'm prepared to take that risk.Andy

The car I had before the D4 I had to switch them off in traffic or stop before they went off, I don't like to drive bumper to bumper I like to give myself space I case the car in front breaks down.

Mine stay activated till you get to the speed of the door locking actuates, about 10mph.
