Front Parking Aid Query....?

Just a quickie..... Smile ... when 'reverse' is selected both front and rear parking aids operate .... however when the car is in 'drive' and and the car is driven forwards to an obstruction, the front parking aid does not appear to operate....... not until 'reverse' is selected, then the front ones work... Is this right? .... I've read the handbook and it does say 'when in Drive only the front sensors are active' - so the front ones should be on all the time?

Something else to add to the list?

That's how it works in a D3 ... Have to select reverse first, or push the button. Not sure on a D4 but I imagine the same otherwise it'd drive you nuts in traffic jams. Thumbs Up

I think it's a MY thing, my (Reg 2006) has the front ones on when under 5mph-ish, without reverse being selected.

while I drive a none Land Rover product, my units become active once I slow down; that's both front and rear is there some sort of setting that needs setting on LR?

I get surprised when they start bleeping and look at center display to see if I'm too close to car in front but most the time it's the car behind getting too close to my rear Laughing

The ones in our Lexus also activate when slowing down, but in the D3 (It's a MY08) neither front or rears activate until either button is pressed or reverse selected. So I think you may be right about MY thing smaskins

On my D4 Parking sensors are inactive unless P or N is selected or the button activating them is pressed.

I'm pretty sure that is they way they work, if you want the front ones on without putting it into reverse you have to press the button on the dash. I think it has been like this on all my D4's Thumbs Up

Mine's MY09. The only way to get the front sensors active is to either select reverse (and find the bite point) or press the button on the dash. The same is true of the rear sensors, of course! Thumbs Up

Got confused as on my Land Cruiser they were on all the time .... used to make me 'jump' a bit when pedestrians walked in between in traffic....
