Front heated driver's seat
Hello
Just returned from a journey out in the cold and experienced a rather too HOT heated seat that started to smell of burning!
I turned it off because it was too hot (even on 1) but then there was a smell of smoke - which when I parked could be traced to the drivers seat cushion.
Has anyone else had this and know the solution please?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe the wrong size fuse in the circuit as it should blow before any damage.

Quite common when the element is failing and can burn the a hole in the seat, they always fail in the crease of the seat, do not use it until repaired or replaced It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I can see the neighbours now, that wierd man next door is smelling his car seat!
It is the element as MSDPO says, I also bought a new foam cushion as was quite badly burnt.

I fixed mine by pulling the seat cushion and soldering wire to replace the burnt out sections that run through the crease. Presumably the additional flex there means the fry and eventually resistance goes up to melting point.
Be quite careful when removing the four torx bolts as they round off easy - I had to use a mini blowtorch on mine before they would budge.
Took me about 2 hours and a bit of wire.
Also, I used cable ties instead of hog rings to secure the cover back to the cushion.
Hope this helps.

They are about £110 at the last price check, there are two types one for leather one for cloth. Rimmer Bros, Lincs supply them at a slight discount by next day post.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
