Front Discs n Pads **DONE**
Firstly, without the swift service from Nick (TLO) and the GREAT Bodsy Brake Bible, never would I have been able to tackle this myself.
Anybody thinking its beyond them needs to read the Bible, it tells you everything you need to know, and even what tools you need.
So this morning I gathered all the specific tools I needed, and nothing more. I knew the parts would be here later in the day so I thought I would strip the old discs n pads in advance, and have a clean up of the rusty bits n calipers. I did'nt own any Axle Stands so bought some 3t ones from Halfords as I wanted to both sides together.
The Knackerd Discs, Completely Worn out and massive lip
As you can see, well past their Best, and stopping was becoming a struggle with loads of Steering Shake.
The Clean up, Rust Treating and a Cosmetic Tidy up
I made sure the Calipers were properly secured rather than hanging on the Brake pipes
New Discs and Pads Fitted, Orginal Sensor Cable Re-fitted
Nice job Mac!!!!!! Looks really good, what did you do to the calipers, is it high temperature paint? Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.
Oh Lord! send down a dove, with wings as sharp as razors.

I started about noon I guess, finished bout 4pm..............The caliper frame was tight, and Bodsy does say a breaker bar was needed, plus it took about 15mins of head scratching to word out the Handing of the Bolts
Discs n Pads arrived about 3pm and on, done n dusted by 4pm. Worked out quite well really as it gave me loads of time to strip and prepare.
I used that brush on rust treater before painting, only did the Bad areas that could be seen TBH, but the effect looks 8) , and did'nt want the Boy Racer Red/Blue/Yellow or Black calipers, so kept it all clean Silver.
Chuffed with my days work, for a novice

Why not, had a cone out........no fluids spilt, and not for reward/payment. Unlike my neighbour that did an oil change last weekend and poured it down the drains

Where can I find this Brake Bible. I need to change the front pads soon and just want to make sure I have the correct tools. I changed pads and discs recently on my Renault Megane, is the D3 any different, just bigger?

Well done.....I am also a virgin Brake disc changer, and will be following in your footsteps in a few months.....
Virgin with landys anyway, its been about 20 years since I done it with other cars, since I got company cars done under contract.
I did get quoted about 425 quid to get the stealer to do it when in fact it wasnt necessary......so Ill do it myself and pocket the £270saved for wine and things.....you k now....
