I'm assuming there's no way to adjust backlash with these diffs? Do I need to measure it to determine of the diff is knackered before I put new bearings in?
If so, what's the spec for the backlash?

Backlash is not normally the issue with these diffs. Typically one of the carrier bearings will fail, and you'll know in two ways.
1, it will get very noisy
2, the oil will be full of glitter, and the mag plug will look like a Christmas tree!

The reason I ask is that I’ve bought a used diff to refurb. When I inspect it by turning the input shaft, the diff feels like it has quite a lot of backlash slack. One of the bearings (the pinion side) is shot. You can see it flopping about.
Would that be the cause of the backlash feeling?

Mine is rumbling away after my own cock up with oil. Does anyone have just the bearing numbers for the drive shaft sides ? I already have new oil seals.Jarrod

No, I seperated extension shaft, i turned it 180 degrees and it pulled out, As i wanted to install new oil seal + i wanted to check roller bearing as well
Hi, wondering do yo have the size of that roller bearing, I am preparing to change my front diff, don't know the condition of that roller bearing yet, but I guess it is still worth changing it as well as the seal any way as long as it is not pressed in the tube...
