Taking the diff apart is easy bit, and both crown wheel bearings are easy enough to change along with the seals, but the pinion bearing and setting it back up is very tricky without the correct tools, can be done but normally by someone who has done one before.
Also there is a small needle roller bearing in the r/h drive shaft extension tube from the diff that also fails.

Great info thanks all.
I’ve found a second hand unit that’s only done 48k so will probably give that a go. Unfortunately my next issue is shipping it to Spain , anyone want a driving holiday 🤪👍

Thanks Flack
Skynet, I’ve just changed the Auto box filter and sump, I had a little shudder which has gone. Just also changed rear diff oil (some swarf but not much) and transfer box oil (no swarf), sadly the droning is unchanged.
Not much play in props / uj’s. So think it’s likely the front diff. Once the new one is fitted I’ll update the thread Thumbs Up

Wales 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial XS Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

The sticker with the info is on the top near the breather...impossible to see.
The ratios are in the second post of the thread you linked to.
The auto transmission should be 3.54:1
I changed my manual trans front diff recently and it was 3.07:1.
