Front cornering lights

Does anyone know if front cornering lights can be added as a modification to the existing Xenon headlight unit? When choosing my used HSE, I test drove several HSE's that had the cornering lamps fitted, but it seemed that it was not a standard issue to all HSE's, as the one I finally settled on doesn't have them, despite having the Xenon's which I believe are standard on the HSE. I found the cornering lamps to be fantastic, and I also know someone who had them on theirs, and they just seem to be such a good idea, and I wondered if they could be retro fitted?

I suppose even if they can be fitted to the headlamp unit, the wiring would need to be there for them, as they only operate when the headlights are on, and you engage the indicator. Knowing Landrover, I'd have thought the wiring is already there, but maybe another module is required maybe?

All HSE's should have adaptive xenon's with the cornering lamps (unless very early ones didn't Question)

Are your lights adaptive (move when you turn the wheel)?

2005 models of the HSE only came with Xenons, Adaptives were not standard until the 2006 model year.

No - go with retrofit i'm afraid, the wiring is different, there's an ECM needed and then it needs to be enabled in the software

Funny thing is, on the RRS you can have std non-adaptive Xenons but with cornering lamps, not sure how much of the adaptive electronics has to be in place for that....

Just to be clear, we are discussing two seperate things, my question was about the additional cornering lights, where an extra halogen bulb is fitted inside the sidelight below the indicator lens, and illuminates when the indicator is triggered, not when you turn the wheel.

On the options list, the cornering lamps are listed seperately from the adaptive headlamps. I thought I had the adaptive headlamps, because they look like they have that globe shaped rotational ability, but having said that, I have never seen them move.

Am I right in thinking that what you guys are saying is that the cornering lamps came packaged with the adaptive Xenons?

I have this on my Mercedes - the front fog light comes on when the wheel turns into a corner at low speed, and goes off when the turn is complete.

I don't believe it's a feature on the D3, no matter what the headlight options, but I could be wrong. Active cornering headlights are different.

I have adaptives - the cornering light comes on when I indicate, or when I turn a corner with no indicators. I'm not aware of the cornering lamp being available seperately from the adaptives.

When you initially switch the engine on (with autolights in the dark) you'll see the lights go through full movement if you have adaptives - you can't miss it 8)

What's the option list price, and would you choose it again?

It's a standard feature on the HSE (since 2006 my) and having had it, I would pay for the option if LR delete it as standard as it is a brilliant feature. Takes a bit of getting used to though and I miss it when I drive other cars.
