Yes I know they are now engineered to do slightly different things, my point was really why engineer two solutions to altering the headlight pattern when presumably one could have done both jobs - maybe either cornering or steering headlights are illegal in some markets.

It seems that maybe I don't have aaptives then. I test drove several that did have it, and I thought it was great. The Xenon headlights look exactly the same as the ones that did have it, with the exception of those little cornering lights in the sidelight lens.

I think it's more to do with the adaptives xenon lamp units capability to bend the light is limited ..whereas the corner lights shine out at right angles to the motor.

Yes they are halogen, not sure which bulb.
