Front Brake Disc Upgrade
I think I've read in the past that the V8 discs can be fitted to the front on a TDV6 as an upgrade
I've got a HSE spec TDV6, can the V8 discs be fitted OK?
I've tried searching the forum, but dont know if I'm tying in the key words, as its not comming up with much
If its possible, does anyone knoe the part number of the caliper carrier/bracket's that are required?
Thanks
Ade

Hi
Yes, its possible to fit the V8 discs easily. They are slightly larger and need a different bracket. I'm not sure what the part numbers are but I got mine from TLO @ Yeovil. If tou need to do the discs anyway then there's not much in it.
Job done!

Yeah, need to fit new discs, so may as well do it
If anyone has the part number of an old receipt or somethin, would be appeciated
I've found a part number of SXP500014 whilst googling, but dont know if its right
Thanks

did this on mine - its just the V8 caliper brackets and discs you need. Drop Nick at Yeovil (TLO) a PM to get the p/numbers and prices.

I've just fitted Terrafirma discs all round. Great bite and feel with much improved stopping distance. Bought on Ebay from a reliable LR specialist. £220 including pads an sensors. Look great as well.

I recall OEM discs are approx £90, pads are £45, Sensor cable £14...............
I will stick with OEM parts

Oh well. I'm pleased and £220 for front and rear seems a bargain compared to what I've paid in the past for other toys. Also the dramatic improvement over OEM and the looks makes it worth while.

It does actually, I think Macleod thought you'd paid that for just the fronts.
Can you post or PM me which ebay seller you used as I'm about to replace my fronts.
Thanks

Al
And pads presumably, since the V8 disc braking area is larger you would want the pads to match.

The braking area isn't larger to my knowledge.
The discs are bigger, moving the contact area further away from the centre and giving more leverage.

I believe you can only have this upgrade done with confidence on the 19" rims though... Read elsewhere on here that 18" may be too small...

pads are the same for the V8 and TDV6, so no issue there, and V8 discs are OK with wheels from 18" upwards, its just 17" you cant fit.
