Of those that have changed the ARB bushes - does it drive any better or just eliminate the 'knocking'?

It cured my noisy suspension.

The bushes were a bit knackered and were the original type which don't have as much rubber as the later version.

The drop links weren't totally knackered but they were on their way I think.

A good job done, not easy for the non mechanic like me but achievable with patience and the help of this great forum. Thumbs Up

Thanks to the OP for posting. I've just ordered some superpro bushes for my front ARB so will have to get into when they arrive

ARB Bush Replacement

Hi Everyone. I just recently upgraded to a Disco 4. I did not notice the knocking sound at first. When I accelerate from a stationary position, even in my drive way, I hear a knocking sound for a second or two. If I accelerate very slowly, I do not hear a sound at all. I also do not hear the sound when driving at normal speed on tarmac or gravel.

I first heard the knocking noise when I was driving on a gravel road after raising the suspension. It is a 2013 Disco 4 SDV6 8 Speed Auto which has only done 121,000 Km. From your experience, can it be the ARB bushes that needs to be replaced or can it be something else more serious? Sad

Can some one please assist?

Does anyone have a link to the correct arb bushes please? I’m going to tackle the fronts first. Do people recommend rubber or poly bushes?

Front ARB - which way up refitting

Afternoon, having stripped out the front upper and lower control arms I have also changed the front ARB bushes. Trouble is I can’t remember which way round it should be☺️ I have uploaded a photo to show how it is at present. Only on finger tight until I can confirm correct way. Despite the handy info and guidance on here I can’t find a photo of the ARB in situ. Or in my manual or anywhere else.!any advice please. Thanks.

I have a bit of a silly question. Are disco3 and disco4 ARB bushes the same?
My dealer sold me LR015339G bushes but it says that it's for a disco 3. I have a 2016 Disco4.
Thanks for your help.

Officially they’ve got different part numbers but they should be the same size. The D4 front ARB bush part is LR018346. Most aftermarket bushes list both part numbers on the “OE” compatibility list.

Another massive thankyou for this guide - not a job I would previously have dreamt of attempting but it actually went quite well.

Did find the crossmember removal tip from this thread useful as well - couldn't get the n/s top nut undone without it.
