Thanks very much - I think I was just being overly optimistic about mot taking the lower tailgate apart!

Hello all
Having upper tailgate release issues at the moment. When trying to open the tailgate, neither the handle switch nor the key fob have any effect. If I have had the boot open, close it, then try to open again, no response and the car then won’t lock and beeps as if something is still open. Generally, when it happens, a shutdown, lock and unlock sequence seems to cure it. Do these symptoms point towards a switch issue or an actuator issue?

Edit: Seems to have been a switch issue. New one installed last night and working. For now....
