Friday Built ? come on LR you can do much better
We bought a 59 plate Discovery 4 from Farnell Land Rover in Leeds, the car had approx 30k and is an HSE model, since buying the car we have had 38 different warranty issues.
On one occasion I happened to be in France (Brittany) and the car decided to die 2 days before returning home, end result stuck in France for an extra 5 days whilst LR arranged parts with the local dealer to make repair under warranty.
I have to say I love my Disco 4 but the quality of the build and the vehicle is questionable, I just can't get my head around the number of different warranty problems, one of the main issues is the electronics and warning lights coming on and off without warning.
My vehicle recently turned 3 yrs old and after complaining to LR they have given me a further 12 months extended LR Warranty and LR assistance, guess what we have seen the LR assistance guy twice already.
Makes me wonder if I should have bought a BMW X5 or Japanese 4X4.
Anyone had similar experiences.

A warning before the real warning. Now that would actually be a really nice feature. Having a gentle pre-warning before the actual "Bong" followed by some ECU going into full panic mode

Confused.com ....is this a D3 or D4 with the 38 warranty issues ?

No...you're not alone,although in my case it was an Audi A6...it was so bad I made them buy it back after 18 months....and yes,the customer service manager did indeed say I was just unfortunate and had got a "Friday car"....it happens everywhere...its hugely frustrating,but believe me,regardless of what you will hear,it is not in any way an issue for Land Rover only........sorry to hear of your woes though"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool,than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I had similar issues with a Mercedes E-320 CDI estate, which I sold whilst in warranty - I might have kept it for years.
Maybe there was some doubt in my mind, as I didn't PX my Disco as I couldn't bear to part with it. The end result was that I ran a Disco 2 for 128k miles, when I planned to sell it before 100k miles. It wasn't perfect but better than the E320 in terms of reliability!

3*8hr shift patterns with the odd friday shutdown as well as i saw for myself... I wonder if thats to avoid friday builds
TBH if you have another 12months of LR warranty i would get shut of it and either get another or move on as the faults only tend to get worse and worse unless it spends some time with a proper LR techie who can do RCA...FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

Took a lot of phone calls to LR Customer Support and was hard work, I would have to be honest likely sold the car if the warranty had not been increased to cover year 4.

Friday is known as POETS day, ( pi g off early tomorrows saturday ).
Get the work done and get in the pub! That's the Friday attitude for you! Quality has been known to go out of the window because of it.
I am struggling with a 2011 VW transporter T5 that looks to be a Friday van! Really dissapointed as I bought it for the reliability! Really could do without having it at the VW van centre!

Better than VW and their DSG problems in Australia. A few accidents due to loss of power have been attributed to sudden power loss; apparently some owners, who were not well informed, paid thousands of dollars for repairs to their DSG box. They have also had problems with their injectors.

Similar story to the original poster here... 59-plate ex demo D4 HSE, which I also got a comp 4th year of warranty for becaus of all my problems. I am on my 2nd engine, and now having problems with this one too. Car has been with my dealer for 11 days as they try and figure why it has a nasty smoking habit. And it spent a similar amount of time VOR in May too.
Must admit, if it doesn't get returned with the problem cured, I don't know if I will put up with it for much longer. It's an amazing car, but I would be scared of getting my fingers burnt again should i buy another. Which is so sad, as the car could be amazing if only parts didnt keep breaking. When it works, i love it. What on earth would happen if I actually did regular off roading though???
Brochure arrived today for he 2014 Grand Cherokee, which may be my backup option... Or the X5... But I'd far rather LR just upped the quality of the Disco!747_JK
