Dont tell them that Ken, they all think their cars are wonderful. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Transportation issues are abound as well, lots of new March 1st vehicles going out from Gaydon not just D5's
Not really any more - they can call them direct to...we have 1 - 3 new cars a year and they are all quick and dont all need to go through gaydon either. Mike

Ive been lied to then, my dealer said they have had an email saying delivery delays due to 'busy' transport problems. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Or i have a good dealer?!
They have even gone to pick cars up that are delayed by a day (but we are closer to almost all the production sites!), my first RRS they did that.
Certainly from build to delivery they can get it done in 5-10days depending on mood, the last few have all be 1 week.
There are loads of people wanting them before the tax change apparently - 2 dealers i spoke to when selling the discovery said it was more important to get a car before April than the new registration for some!!
In the good old days - the range rovers had a 6 month waiting list and you would get it in a few weeks from build Mike

Mine was due in on the 24th but looks like it will be brought forward as well, it is being built this week. Not sure I follow the logic on transport being busy as the daily production rate on the RR RRS and D5 line is pretty constant and running at capacity. I am sure they mentioned on the tour that storage on the factory site was limited and that the transport logistics must be planned at the same time as the supply chain.

A lot of stock goes straight from Solihull to Gaydon pending delivery to dealers in the UK and Ireland, and straight to Southampton or other ports if going abroad.... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Nothing new there then! I think storage has always been a problem to JLR. March registrations and new model together must be making it worse than ever now!

Well when you see just how much bigger Solihull's JLR site is now in terms of buildings versus available land, you see that there is hardly any space left at all now. Technically speaking they have outgrown the site....
One can imagine that their new works in Slovakia will be much bigger, and probably on a greenfield site, so will be much bigger and have adequate storage (for now)! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Which is why they have already extended and created a new outbound area, with internal connecting bridge and are extending again into the fields to the side of the current factory soon
They have also removed masses of car parking, making it off site, to extend the factory. Mike
