Two cars and a tractor count as a major traffic jam up here you know. One of those cars is going in a different direction and that's the problem. Doubt if I need TMC then
Besides, I lie in bed listening to Sally Traffic and just imagine what it must be like...........

Leading on from JMC's post, I've always wondered what Sally Traffic looked like so i stuck her name into google images. Several innocent images popped up.
Took safe search off, (just in the interests of research you understand) , and several biologically interesting pictures came up when i hit search expecially on page 4
bit like being with Bodsy in Amsterdam this week i bet

Very interested to see this thread as planning purchase D3 imminently and was curious about huge cost difference in sat nav specs.
I also own an Renault Espace with navteq system and there was a huge row (on-line)amongst new owners 3 yrs ago about the TMC logo on screen being "red" instead of "green" and the system not working. Renault claimed TMC wasn't part of the deal but were thwarted as their web-site said it was. It appeared that Renault hadn't paid for a licence from one of UK companies that sells rights to TMC but advertised it from European prospective where it is free. Some owners purchased new DVD's direct from Navteq and the system worked. After about six months Renault paid their licence fee and agreed to supply new DVD's to persistent owners and everything worked! The information is supplied as you say via Classic FM but is only as useful as radio traffic bulletins - hence can be out of date. The Renault system allows you to get written data about each "alert" so can work out if sensible. However I have always found it works across UK but it is not a real time system like Trafficmaster.
I would be very surprised if there was any difference in the hardware in either SE or HSE models (especially if logo visible) and suspect a new DVD would work. Maybe a LR techie will tell us? I'm not sure £149 is worth it for TMC alone (no comment about LR mark up) but if you needed updated maps etc. maybe.

I've just been on the phone to Navteq explaining the questions. They don't know the answer and are going to get back to me.

I found that if you 'tap' the TMC warning symbol it opens up a new page with details of the incident
I can't remember if it auto re-routes tho or even if this needs setting up somewhere
John, if Dynamic Navigation is enabled (on the TMC set-up page) it will suggest alternative routes if available
Just buying the disk won't give you TMC, it's the same disk for Standard and Premium, you'd need to add on the TMC module which isn't there by default on Standard nav. There's at least one member on here that's had it added on, can't remember who though, one of the French guys I thinkThe End

Reply from Navteq
All,
Navteq replied, somewhat Delphically , with:
Thank you for your enquiry about the TMC.
NAVTEQ is the supplier of map data to many of the navigation systems on the market. The navigation system function you mention[TMC - ed.] is a function of the navigation system software supplied with the hardware and is not a function of the map data supplied by NAVTEQ.
Please note that each automobile manufacturer has made choices on the functionality that they wish the navigation system to support. We kindly recommend you to contact your dealer about this issue.
Kind regards,

Slimer - thanks for that - I don't have the set-up screen, so it was a long shot as to whether it would enable it.

What I don't understand about TMC is how when I was in France (Loire) over Easter (this year), with the 'old disc' I was able to re-tune my TMC and get all the local info. However, last week when in Bordeaux with the new disc no TMC. I was able to tune into a station but the small square in the top left corner still had the diagonal slash through it. Any views on this?? Have LR cancelled their subscription for brits in Europe??Formerly a Buckingham Blue V8 HSE, Side Steps, Privacy Glass, Lamp Guards, A-Frame Protection Bar with Driving Lamps and DVD
Formerly Buckingham Blue RR Vogue SE with all the bells and whistles
Stornoway Grey Disco 4 so back in the fold.

...just as a follow-up. I got my new disc the other week. It's excellent - loads more POIs. As expected, the TMC isn't enabled though.2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
