Avoid travelling on the weekend of 1st to 3rd August if you possibly can. The Saturday is known as "Black Saturday" ("samedi noir") as autoroutes, and many RN slow to a crawl.

We picked further south in the hopes that the weather would be a little better / warmer.
We will see how it goes but I think next year we will venture further south, this will be my first big trip using the D3 to pull the tin tent so I didn't want to go too far, plus this trip will be 6 of us traveling.Dale
Sad I know but stayed at Le Pin Parasol every year from 2003 to 2010. Went there so often because the kids loved it (as did we). When we weren't around the pool we were generally to be found on the beach at Bretignolles sur Mer. Kids grown up now and no longer want to come with us so have been going further afield (Gorges du Tarn, Dordogne and this year, Lake Annecy in the Rhone/Alps region). Thinking of going to Le Pin Parasol again next year though.
Enjoy
Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Thats good to know, this will be the first time in France with the caravan so we are looking forward to it.
The site came highly recommended from some of the guys in the D2Boys Club, this might be the last time we can all go on holiday as a family as the 3 eldest ones are all in their 20's now so we wanted to do something big.Dale
We'll be at our house in France at the back end of August
I don't use the tolls, we go Portsmouth to Caen with Brittany and use the normal motorways / roads
When we used to go Dover Boulogne or the tunnel I used the A16 peage, toll q's can be a pain, 30+ mins easily on a bad day Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Another vote here for Pin Parasol, went there last year, had a ball, lovely site with the usual high standard of facilities at a French site. Lovely lake down bottom of the hill, and great cycling in the area....
Have fun.....we are just back with the Disco and trailer from 2 weeks in the Loire Valley and 1 week in Holland on the way home.....feeling very

Yeah, it's a good site. The walk round the lake is great - as are the stops on the way
I suspect it'll be mega busy and with swarms of kids though, in August ...

No not me i'm afraid. We unfortunately were at Dunirell Campsite in Wassenar. 12 year old daughter loved it....I thought it was hell on earth.....
Area was stunning and would go back, just to a different more normal campsite..........
