FPS replaced now no gears!

I’ve been trying to trace an intermittent fault which happens randomly-

starts as

HDC unavailable
Suspension lowering
Engine fault
Park brake fault

Turn car off and restart and it’s fine for a while???

Get codes for loss of communication with control units , fuel pressure too low, fuel temperature to low, fuel volume regulator limits exceed

Been to 2 specialists and had fuel filter replaced twice
Fuel filter housing replaced
Wheel alighnment and steering angle sensor reset
Leaky injector replaced
Still does it randomly
While researching fault found that could be fuel pressure sensor fault - so yesterday after driving the car and fault not appearing I changed the FPS for an OE Delphi one , same part number, as soon as I put ignition on got gearbox fault limited gears plus hdc unavailable suspension lowering - before I even started it!
Now it won’t drive at all???
Currently sat in my garage thinking I’ll put the old FPS back on? Or could be a wiring fault?
Taken battery off to To do a hard reset see if that works- not holding out much hope!!

Any ideas guys??

Also new turbo battery and alternator about a year ago,
Swapped the brake light switch as a “ maybe it could be” and new switch caused brakes to lock up?? Somehow didn’t release pressure when driving - had to remove the switch to release the brakes?? Put old switch back on and now brakes fine??? WTF?

Ok hard reset didn’t work still got F on dash and hdc etc
Cleared faults again - car won’t start now???
Faults reappear and car starts???

This makes no sense

Can you post the actual fault codes?

P00E-22 fuel volume regulator control ecxceeded learning limit general signal failure
P2290-00(68) injector control pressure too low
U0132-87 lost comm with ride control bus signal missing
U0159-87(2e) lost comm with parking assist signal missing
UO416-86(24) invalid data from vehicle dynamics bus signal invalid
UO401-94(20) invalid data from ECM component failure unexpected operation
UO402-94(20 invalid data from TCM compnent fail unexpected op
UO416-94(20) invalid data from vehicle dynamics component failure unexpected op
UO2023-86(AC)control module network signal calibration data bus signal fail
UO401-68(20) ECM algorithim based fail
Above one have mostly gone now

P0087-00(28) fuel rail pressure too low
C1A96-64(20) brake lamp switch circuit fail - this was when i fitted a new switch!

the faults that now keep appearing after an event are
P0087-00 fuel pressure
the HDC ECM TCm lost comm messages

After i changed FPS got PO193-17(25) fuel rail pressure high input gen elec failure circuit voltage above threshold

Ive removed and cleaned out the TCM module behind the battery also

Refitted the old FPS today and car starts runs drives as normal- hasnt faulted as of yet??

I thought it may be wiring for the FPS at fault as that is the only thing i changed, but putting the original FPS back on and now works fine - blows that theory up!

Not necessarily, it might be the plug on the FRPS! Sometimes I've had to use two cable ties to secure it tightly on to the sensor, and particularly with EU4 MY 07>>. Tie one loosely around the rear of the sensor to create an anchor for the second one, which goes through the first and around the shoulder of the plug. Pull tight and it won't budge. (Hope that makes sense Rolling Eyes )

If you've still got a code for the brake lamp sw circuit fail you have to replace it or you will be in never ending trouble. Get an original and see if that does it. Thumbs Up

Dont have code for brake switch, just tried replacing it which gave me a code so changed it back

Old FPS is back on now -running ok at the moment, will double check the part numbers are right on FPS before i try that again

If it continues to run OK it's likely the FRPS is not the cause as they very rarely go bad. If the source of your trouble is at the sensor I'd be betting on it being the plug itself.

In any case I think this is a close as you will get to an original FRPS as the part is not sold separately from the rail. https://www.lrparts.net/hfs102-oem-fuel-ra...ensor.html

Siemens/VDO say it must not be removed from the rail, presumably this for safety considerations.

If the plug is not making permanent contact with the sensor pins it will play hell with you!!

This is the sensor I replaced with OE one. I don’t think it’s fuel related as it doesn’t cut out, still idles and restarts straight away, the sensor was replaced as a maybe it will fix it but obviously made it worse.
