Well as the consensus seems to be the EGR & shes running ok at the moment i'll plod on until the garage appointment on the 20th.
I've got a couple of 2 pence coins in the car all the time anyhow (I use them to remove / replace the cover for the tow bar electric hook ups) If it fails again & I need a temporary get me home fix I have one to hand.
I debated blanking & mapping last year when the N/S valve failed, but for one reason or another decided to have it replaced. I'll get this one replaced as well & hope that's the last one for my ownership at least. It's already on it's third pair at 136K!

Dropped Moneypit into Erme Valley Autos yesterday, ran diagnostics which confirmed a fault code with the O/S EGR (strangely the IID tool never picked this up.)
On removal you could see the valve wasn't fully closing, It's like a different car now it's got a new valve, much more responsive.

Most of the time when you can’t find a fault with an IID it’s because the user needed to go into the setting menu and select “pending” faults be displayed as well. That’s where a lot of faults hide.
