Follow-up on the Jetta meets LR3 post

Just thought I'd follow-up on this a bit... See www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic7839.html

The LR3 was in the body shop for almost four weeks - mainly due to damage not apparent on the first estimation. Once the tailgate and bumper cover were removed, there was additional damage to the body in the rear. The right rear quarter panel was also in need of a fix and repaint. The frame had absolutely no damage though. They ended up replacing the bumper cover, tailgate, right brake light, right muffler, mouldings, reflecter, park distance sensor, bumper step pad and some other minor stuff. More than you might think by looking at the pics. Total bill was $4,231US (or about £1,000 - just kidding). Some of the major stuff... the tailgate was $571, the park distance control was $133, bumper cover was $456. The repair shop did an excellent job. Looks good as new. We're happy to have it back, as we had only just got it two weeks prior to the accident. That piece of crap Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 that we had as a rental was a poor substitute.

Yeah, it was an 06 Grand Cherokee 4x4. It has a raucous V-6, acres of cheap pebbled plastic for a dash, a silly cheap feeling gated shifter, a low profile that guarantees you'll hit your head once in four times getting in or out, overly high load height, and worst of all - a brake pedal that is placed WAY too high. I actually think the exterior styling is pretty decent, but that's as far as it goes. Why anyone would buy one over a Honda Pilot is beyond me.

Well, I had an '05, and they're better off-road than any Honda.
